The New Year is upon us and I hope that 2013 has got off to a good start for all our readers! Here’s hoping to a happy and prosperous year to you all. Now, on to the quick bites!
- Over the holidays I used a Char-Broil Oil-Less Infrared Turkey Fryer to cook the bird. I was pretty impressed with this propane powered cooker, and was happy with the relatively easy clean up without having to deal with a massive amount of cooking oil. Bonus: the turkey actually tasted pretty good too.
- I started ended 2012 right, with a little bit of Tex-Mex. The Culebra Café on Pat Booker Highway in Universal City hit the spot with their tamale lunch plate. The masa was thick and the tamales where smothered in a tasty gravy. The green salsa was particularly spicy with a smoky taste. Note: chips and salsa don’t come with the meal.
- San Antonio Jane and I ended up getting a chicken coop for Christmas this year! We’d been wanting to get some chickens for a while, and ended up getting a “predator-proof” coop from My Pet Chicken to try to prevent our chickens from getting snatched by our raccoons. We should have chicks by the end of February, and I am looking forward to writing about the experience on the blog!
- MySA.com posted their Top 10 dishes from 2012, and surprisingly most of them could be found for less than $10. For all you folks who are starting a New Year’s budget, this could be the post for you!
