The madness is officially on! I am sure that most of you have your brackets filled out for the NCAA tournament, and to this point it doesn’t look like too many people are busted just yet. In the food world, there is another bracket going on related to the best BBQ in San Antonio. You can let your voice be heard by going to MySA BBQ Bracket and vote for your favorite. On to the Quick Bites!
- I was able to visit Arcade Midtown Kitchen this past week. The drinks were great and the atmosphere was a lot of fun; the indoor/outdoor bar is fantastic and the restaurant acoustically has a good feel. There is just enough noise to make it feel jumping, while quiet enough to carry on a conversation. I favored the Old Fashioned and my wife got an excellent cantaloupe drink.
- With spring in the air, it is the perfect time to get out in the backyard and grill. This past week, I grilled up some specialty sausages from Central Market. By far my favorite was their spicy Andouille sausage, which had a good kick. Pair it with a Shiner Farmhouse Ale and enjoy this perfect weather.
- This Saturday is going to be ripe with music downtown. The Maverick Music Festival features blues/rock guitarist Gary Clark Jr. headlining a show with the San Antonio’s own Girl in a Coma as one of the opening acts at the La Villita show. Tickets are $28 in advance and you can purchase them here. Hotel Havana is having a party of its own with an evening of live Latin jazz, mambo and salsa music, featuring Tito Puente Jr. Opening the show is local favorites Colao and tickets for this event are $25 and available at the door.
- Fiesta is right around the corner, and this year the Fiesta Store has an awesome shirt. I saw it on Twitter from user @4CASTSteve and I am going to have to drop by and pick one up. Puro Fiesta is Puro San Antonio!
Glad I stopped by the Fiesta store today! Loving my new #PuroFiesta shirt! #Fiesta2013 @fiestasa @purosanantonio twitter.com/4CASTSteve/sta…
