One thing is for certain – Italians know how to make ice cream. A trip to Italy is never complete until stopping to get gelato from a corner store. I was very excited to find Siviero Maria, an imported gelato from Italy, in the freezer at Central Market. While I opted for the Bacio, a chocolate hazelnut flavor, there were a several other enticing flavors including a cherry and tiramisu.
The packaging did a good job of showing the different flavors in ice cream – you get a peak at a generous chocolate swirl and some of the whole hazelnuts on the top. I was a little sad that there were no hazelnuts mixed in the ice cream, but there was a good hazelnut flavor throughout. The gelato was very chocolatey and had an excellent creamy texture. Siviero Maria gelato is a great way to reminisce on an old trip to Italy, or want to find out what all the fuss about gelato is.
